The Aliens

Conceptual Project
Scenic Design 1
Fall 2019

Concept Thesis: My design for "The Aliens" is heavily inspired by the pacific northwest, and uses forced perspective to make the characters look insignificant and a part of their own world. The audience encircles the acting space, to create an intimate stage that allows the audience to feel included in Jasper and KJ's world.

Programs Used: AutoCAD, Photoshop

Model Process

The main scenic elements of the my model were created entirely out of a fruit snacks box, which I then painted and textured to create a peeling wood effect on the siding. The stone were painted with different tones of grey, and then modeling moss powder was adhered using spray glue. I wanted the back of the coffee shop to be in disrepair, with peeling paint to show that there has been no upkeep, where the front of the coffee shop probably has a fresh coat of yellow paint. Like the paint, Jasper and KJ are left to fade away.
